The Greatest Present of all: A Hockey Jersey

For Christmas a while ago my brother and I came up with one of the greatest gift ideas for our Dad. Our father is huge into the sport of hockey. He's Canadian and he's lived and breathed the sport ever since he was a little kid. He's the type of guy who's in it just for the sport and doesn't really have a favorite team but we thought we would get him a particular kind of hockey jersey.

What we did was this: We went online and custom ordered a retro hockey jersey for him. He was born in the city of Vancouver so we chose to make it one of the Canucks hockey jerseys and we made the number on the back the same year he was born and we put his name on it. Pretty cool, huh?

Needless to say he was pretty excited to find it under the tree that year and we even put in some Panther's vs. Canucks tickets just so he could wear it to one of the local games.

Finally get to wear my Hockey Jersey!

This year I'm going to get a special treat. For the first time ever I'm going to be going to a Boston Bruins hockey game and my girlfriend and I will be wearing our Boston Bruins hockey jerseys for the occassion but this won't be just any other game. Oh no.

The National Hockey League has started this annual celebration of outdoor pond hockey to attract a new audience and spark nostalgia in the old time hockey fans and coming January 1st of next year the Boston Bruins will be playing outside at Fenway Park against the Buffalo Sabres (maybe? I don't really know who's playing other than Boston.)

We haven't quite gotten our tickets yet but believe me, as soon as we do I'll be wearing my hockey jerseys for a week!

Montreal Canadiens Hockey Jerseys

The Boston Bruins may be my favorite team of all time but their bitter rivals have got to be the most infamous team in the NHL and I've loved them for just as long. The team I'm talking about has played since the very beginning, in many ways they are the National Hockey League, they are the Montreal Canadiens.

Montreal, like most Canadian cities, has an intense love affair with hockey but for the Quebecois it isn't about the league it is just about this one team. The fans there don't care about hockey unless the Canadiens are playing and they certainly don't like any of the other Canadian teams. It's funny actually because all the snow birds down in Florida retain this passion for the Canadiens and you can see the Florida Panthers stadium fill up with 90% Montreal Canadiens hockey jerseys on days where the Panthers play Montreal.

A great team, great nhl hockey jerseys, and a passionate fan base make for a really fantastic time.

Boston Bruins Hockey Jerseys

I thought for the first installment here I would take a moment to talk about my favorite hockey team. Everyone should have a favorite hockey team and if you do have one you should make it a point to go out and collect all of their hockey jerseys. Most hockey teams will have at least three different jerseys for the particular year they are playing in. They will have an Away Jerseys, a Home Jersey, and an Alternate Jersey.

The Bruins have a black, white, and gold color scheme for their ice hockey jerseys and they usually go with the classic Bruins logo on the front. The big golden B encircled with gold and spokes. They use that emblem for their home jersey as well as their away jersey but their alternate jersey takes the name of the team a little more literally. The alternate jersey uses a logo design based on the Bruin as a bear, its a giant roaring bear head.

The Boston Bruins are a great classic hockey team, hopefully I'll get to go to some of their games this year at the Boston Garden.

I love collecting hockey jerseys

Hi everyone! This is the first post on Collect Hockey Jerseys and I just wanted to use this time to tell you a little bit about myself and explain why I love collecting hockey jerseys.

I've been a fan of the NHL for a long time and I have always enjoyed playing hockey. I play all different kinds of hockey from ice hockey to roller hockey and I even sometimes will play the odd ball field hockey game. One of the most interesting things about hockey is that the National Hockey League outfits their players with practical works of art.

Hockey jerseys are designed to give off the best of the team's particular region. They show off the area's colors and tell you a little bit about the people who care about the teams. Think about it, the Florida Panthers have an endangered Panther as their jersey icon, the New York Rangers have something similar to the American flag. These are icons that mean something and they are fantastic relics of sport to collect.

I hope you enjoy the site.
